Teacher wanting to earn extra money marking exam papers.?

Hey Guys!

My wife doesn't want to return to teaching now she's had a baby. We do however need some money. Does anyone know much about marking exam papers. She's a primary teacher with a sociology degree. What about GCSE's, SAT's or NVQ's?? Any advice??

Teacher wanting to earn extra money marking exam papers.?
you can work for the exam board, but its mostly retired teachers who work in those sorts of places. the only one i know is the AQA and SQA. the SQA is located in dalkeith in the lothians out side edinburgh
Reply:Some of my friends are markers for the OCR, and are not very positive about it - lot of work and not very good money. On the other hand, you can work from home.
Reply:She can contact AQA, Edexcel directly (not sure about SATS %26amp; NVQ's) but be warned - they send you post bags crammed full with papers to mark so your summer holidays will have to be put on hold. Remember, the exams are taked all over the country so she will be sent as many papers as have been taken by the candidates! That could run into 1000's (depending on the subject and the amount of entries).

Why not consider supply teaching. If she goes on the supply list she can earn a very good daily rate and not have to bring homework away with her! The only downside is that you don't get holiday pay.

Or private tutoring is another option - then she can pick and choose who and when she teaches.

I've posted AQA and Edexcel sites for you below.
Reply:go to the websites and they have info
Reply:she can be a private tutor, it brings alot more money than marking papers
Reply:You might try posting notices of availability at the local schools.
