I'm 12 and I wanna earn some extra money because I'm saving up for a bass guitar. My parents don't have any jobs for me. Should I ask my neighbors if they need something done? Will you please give me some suggestions?
I know this should be in personal finances but I only got 3 answers there.
How can I earn some extra money?
* Sell stuff on eBay but be careful and let your parents know first, just in case.
*At school, ask a teacher or the lady who sits in the office (haha I suddenly forgot what they're called. School office operators?) if there are any paid tutoring jobs in your school or the surrounding schools.
*Ask for allowance or if you have one already, (e.g. lunch money), don't spend all of it and same some, even if its just a dollar a day.
If those ideas don't seem to work for you, see if you can try to :
Type Papers (this doesn't mean doing someone else's homework or assignments because that might get you in trouble)
Teach Swimming
Take Pet Pictures
Buy And Sell Used Bikes
Wrap Gifts
Shovel Snow
Take Kids' Pictures
Teach Computers
Make Greeting Cards
Make Beaded Lizards
Baby-Sit
Pet Sit
Walk Dogs
Sell Lemonade / Kool Aid / Sodas / Juice
Clean Houses
Deliver Papers
Wash Cars
Rake Leaves
Mow Lawns
Another great way is to sell candy at school (if your school allows it) that they don't sell at the cafeteria, or even stuff like Jamba Juice. When people at my school bring in stuff like Starbucks or Jamba Juice, everyone scrambles to offer them money for it ("I'll give you $5 for that right now!").
Good luck you little entrepreneur. :)
Reply:I have earned a ton of money doing the following things:

Reply:ummm.do yoo get an allowance??if u doo, save it.nd yea ask yor neighbors if u culd work 4 demm.
Reply:uhh mow lawns in the summer
Reply:You could rake leaves, shovel snow or mow lawns for your neighbors. You could also collect cans and bottles and bring them in for money. You could also have a garage sale and sell your old stuff for money.
Reply:you can get a part time job.
Reply:Sell some of your old stuff on ebay!
Reply:i am sure you have lots of local people who have gardens.
Reply:you could always consider prostatution
Reply:i would suggest maybe posting signs around a neighborhood or handing out flyers to ppl u know and do little things like shoveling if needed, babysitting, stuff like that. legally u cant work til ur 15, so thats ur best shot!
Reply:Ok well yeahhh u shuld ask a nice neighbor if they need the lawn mowed or if its cold, shovel the snow. Ya!! Dont ask a grumpy neighbor cush they'll most likely frown nd say no. Or u can tell ur parents evry time u bring a good grade, give u like money!! Good Luck!! Buy a good bass guitar!! :)
Reply:you could do paper route
or go around your neighbourhood and ask ppl if they would like there driveway shoveled.
Reply:Yea, try your neighbours, washing cars, abit of gardening try anything, it also will boost your street wise-ness!
Reply:If I were you I'd ask my neighbors if they need help with anything such as, mowing the lawn, trimming trees or bushes, gardening, raking leaves, shoveling snow, cleaning, sweeping porch/steps, cleaning garage etc. But ask neighbors you know aren't poor, cause you know the ppl with the money will probablly give it to you if you help them. Just explain that you'd really like to get a guitar and want to earn the money on your own with out your parents help. And you can hang flyers in stores or put an ad in the paper and leave your name and a number to call. HOPE THIS HELPS!! good luck! :)
Reply:How about mowing lawns, delivering papers?
Reply:You should ask your neighbors!!!!!!!! You could clean their house!!!!!!!!
Reply:try getting a paper route..i got Around 800$ in christmas tips this year...it's awesome!!!
Reply:Read Robert Kiyosaki books...they help a lot.
Edit: Many answerers below are stating go to neighbours. My advice is to put your allowance in stocks/bonds. You can ask more about this to your parents. If they say no, try putting it in a CD (Certificate of Deposit). They add a lot of interest but you can't take the money out for a period of time (unless you wish to pay a penalty).
